Alyssa CO #2
My second classroom observation was at 2pm on Wednesday August 31 in Calyn Stringer's Level 3B Listening class. As soon as she came to class she was really peppy and excited about class. I feel that her mood directly improved the students attention and was a really helpful tool in keeping the class focused. She welcome me and had me introduce myself to the class. Calyn utilized the internet, projector, whiteboard, and textbook in her lesson and kept the students interested by not dwelling on a single subject the entire class period. Near the end of the lesson she had the students practice saying phrases that Americans constantly use and pronounce in an odd way. The students at first had trouble with the phrases because of the odd pronunciation. I worked with one of the students as a speaking partner so as to practice how to say the phrases from the assignment. Even though I was not a student in the class, I felt fully engaged in the lesson and I really enjoyed Calyn's teaching style.
