Danielle TS#2

On 9/7, I met with Maritza for the first time. She's a student from Mexico and decided to come here to learn English with the hopes of eventually getting her master's degree at Florida State. We first talked a little bit and got to know each other before moving on to composition, as that is the subject she struggles with most. First, we went over subject-verb agreement when there are more than one subjects in a sentence as that was something she was struggling with in her classes. I had her write a couple of sentences in order to get the information to stick with her. Afterwards, she asked me to review a composition she had written and her professor already graded. It was a very good essay, just some minor things here and there that we worked through. At our next session, we are going to completely rewrite the essay so she can practice sentence variety, another area she wants to improve on.
