Alyssa TS #2

Date/Time: September 6th 7-8pm

Location: Georgette’s home

Topic/Skill: Alphabet/Colors, Household Vocabulary

Feedback provided to tutee: I reminded her to practice, practice, practice. Even though I did see an improvement in her studies this week, I am trying to help Georgette actually remember the answers rather than try to find them on my face.

Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned:

When I am at Georgette's I'm not just tutoring her, I am tutoring whichever member of her family is paying attention. Her younger relatives like to stay within earshot and try to repeat what I say so they can learn to. I want to incorporate more active learning activities so that it will be easier for her family to learn too when I am not there. Though I am not sure the extent of her English studies outside of my hours with her, I see an improvement with her. Also, I think that I need to learn better ways to explain grammatical anomalies to my tutees because I feel awkward when my answer is along the lines of 'its just the way it is done'.
