Danielle TS#1

On August 31, I met with Astin for the first time.  He is a 1st grader.  Our first session consisted of him reading and spelling some words so I can verify his level of English comprehension. He did better than I expected him to and seemed to read his books fluently. He stumbled upon a few words here and there, as expected for a 6-year-old, but otherwise did not seem to struggle much reading other than the fact that he would forget to use the plural s (would pronounce dinosaurs, plural, as dinosaur).  This will be our main focus going into the next tutoring session. He seemed to struggle more when it came to spelling, especially when it came to words with double letters (ex. rabbit). This will also be something we will focus on going forward.  He speaks very well, and it appears that this area does not need as much attention as his writing and spelling do.
