Date/Time: August 29th,
2016; 1:00pm-2:00pm
Topic/Skill: Speaking/Past
tense verb use
Teacher Presentation:
Andrew started off the
class by going around the room and having everyone say their name and where
they were from. After introductions the class went down to the computer lab to learn
how to use blackboard. Andrew explained to me that not all students have the
same amount of knowledge of computer use and going over it in class help with future
use. After the computer lab the class returned to room 312 and worked on
sentence building worksheets provided the class workbook. These worksheets were
completed in groups and then discussed with the entire class.
Classroom Management:
Andrew was really good
at interacting with the students. He wasn’t just the authoritative figure
teaching at the front of the class. He made jokes, asked for opinions and
really seemed to listen and care about what every student said.
Materials: Computer
lab, board, projector, marker, workbook
Student Participation: Students
worked in different group asking and answering questions using the past tense.
One student was also selected to write down verbs used in sentences on the
board.
Feedback Provided: After
each worksheet was complete Andrew would go over the most common mistakes and
explain why they were wrong and how to fix them.
Lesson(s) on teaching
you learned:
I learned that multitasking
is very important in teaching English. One activity can deal with writing,
speaking, spelling and listening not just grammar.
