Date/Time: August 30th,
2016; 11:00am-12:00pm
Topic/Skill: Reading
Teacher Presentation: At
the beginning of the class Angel did a review of what was read and discussed
the day before. He went around the room and had each student say a topic
previously discussed.
Classroom Management: Angel
did a very good job of steadying students that wanted to work ahead in the
book. His approach was firm but also made sure to still encourage and praise
the student’s eagerness to learn.
Materials: white
board, marker, workbook
Student Participation:
Students participate in individual study time for about half of the class
working on worksheets provided in the textbook.
Feedback Provided: Angel
provided helpful insight about scanning paragraphs for important information
when reading long sections of writing.
Lesson(s) on teaching
you learned: I learned that individual work is just as important in learning as
group work. When teaching a reading class sometimes its better to take a step
back a allow the students to read without interruptions. A teacher does not
need to be constantly talking in order for students to learn something.
