On 10/12, I met with Astin for our second to last tutoring session. He has made a lot of improvements since I first started with him, especially since he has been in school.  We worked a lot on vowels, specifically in regards to pronunciation and spelling.  We did several worksheets from his workbooks.  However, he doesn't seem to really struggle with vowel sounds. We went through a lot of worksheets, and so we moved on to reading. There were a couple of short stories in some of his books that we read through.  He was very excited because one of them was about penguins.  Each short story came with three comprehension questions, which he seemed to not really understand all that well. My guess is because he probably hasn't done them before, but eventually he got the hang of it.  I had to help him a little bit and coach him so he could find the answer for himself.  Overall, it was a very productive tutoring session.
