Today Muhammad and I practiced identifying topic sentences. Muhammad was being a little lazy last week and simply underlining the first sentence. I had to show him that the topic sentence was not always the first sentence in the paragraph. He gradually began to understand, but I will probably work on it again with him next week. Since I am the TA in Muhammad's grammar class I helped him with some of the new verb tenses we have been learning. We focused on past continuous, which Mohammad grasped pretty well, but sometimes he would accidentally conjugate the verb in the present continuous.
