Diego TS#12

22 September

For this week, Lina and I focused on one of her assignments. The assignment was asking her to memorize certain phrasal verbs. She said she didn't understand phrasal verbs like "back up" or "blow up".

First we went through the list of phrasal verbs that she was assigned. She always asked for examples and sentences which she wrote down. She also always asked once we went over a phrasal verb if it's used often in conversations. One example is when we were covering the phrase "work out". She asked if people just say "I'm going to exercise" instead of "I'm going to work out" and I was very honest with her because I told her that phrasal verb is used a lot. I explained to her that people won't be weirded out if she said exercise instead but that's it more common to say work out.

Another phrasal verb I explained to her was "backing up" and I explained that she may actually have to use that for her driving exam when she reverses her vehicle out of the parking spot.
