In order to prep for tutoring this session I e-mailed all of Muhammad's teachers in order to get an idea of what he needed help with. Only a few responded, but Angel told me that Muhammad needed more practice with reading comprehension, so that's what I decided to focus on today. I printed off some articles that seemed challenging, but manageable. I also made sure that some of the activities I had Muhammad do were more that just answering questions. This included guessing the ending and inferring meaning. Muhammad is an excellent reader, but his vocabulary is still developing. He often asks for help with vocabulary and I always try to make him guess the meaning so that he is not too dependent on me. I have been trying to get know Muhammad a little better, but I still think he is still getting used to me.
