Date/Time: October 18th 7:00-8:00pm
Location: Georgette's Home
Topic/Skill: Pronunciation (Medium Length Passages Practice), Focus on words that begin with A & words that end in Y
Feedback provided to tutee: As usual, I told her to keep practicing. During our sessions her family likes to join in so I've tried to communicate with Georgette that she should try to practice with them as well so that everyone can get better!
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: Georgette can notice patterns very quickly! After a couple of weeks of reading practice, she is beginning to understand the rhythm and flow of the English language. When she has a problem with a word I underline the different syllables so she can space them out in her head. We've gotten to the point where I can an underline one letter and she understands what she needs to fix in her speech. She has greatly improved with her use of words that end in Y. I'm still trying to help her with the words that begin with A because she always puts a "h" sound in front of it. When I tell her that there is no "h" she understands and corrects herself. Its wonderful to see her progress!
