Alyssa TS#6

Date/Time: September 27th 7-8pm

Location: Georgette’s home

Topic/Skill: Review of Vocab, Body Parts,  How are you?/How old are you?

Feedback provided to tutee: I am constantly giving praise to Georgette for all the little things she remembers so as to connect positive feelings with learning English. Her alphabet is perfect and I don't think we will need to address it again. She doesn't need the papers to remind her of words anymore and can recognize the English words a color or household object when she sees them. I still encourage her to study and practice so that she keeps improving.

Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: I realized that Georgette doesn't know the difference between the questions "How are you?" and "How old are you?". It took a longer time than I expected to get her to understand the difference. I couldn't understand why she didn't see the difference. It made me feel bad for questioning why she didn't understand. It made me realize how people of other languages feel when they talk to me and I fake that I understand. Also I know that utilizing songs in the classroom is very effective so I tried to teach her "Heads, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes" but I'm not sure how effective I was. I'll address it again in another session.
