Location: CIES Lounge
I met with my conversation partner, Ali for the first time. He is an advanced speaker and listener and only takes the other three classes, grammar, reading and writing. During speaking and listening classes he hangs out in the CIES lounge to study for the GRE. He is married with a 4 year old and is waiting to go to graduate school to be an anesthesiologist. He is a really nice guy and I enjoyed talking to him. We talked about FSU football and a little about marriage culture in Saudi Arabia. It is the norm in Saudi Arabia to spend bigly on a marriage and invite hundreds of guests. People sometimes need to take out loans just to get married.
