Location: Nefetari's Fine Cuisine and Spirits
Nefetari's is a restaurant that serves fresh, organic, farm-to-table international dishes. They have regular, vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. I heard about this place through a friend, so I thought it would be nice to take Ahmad there. I also let him know that he was welcome to bring his sister Zanap (who is also in CIES), and he brought here and another friend, Henia (who is also in CIES-I probably spelt her name wrong). We all have never been before, so I thought it'd be a good place to try out together.
Dinner was great! We talked about how stressed out we are, our favorite desserts, what we would really do if we didn't have to worry about money, appearance maintenance (make-up with the girls and shaving facial hair with Ahmad), different foods, big families, and applying for universities. It was a little awkward at first, but that quickly dissolved. It was also cool to see and hear them speak in Arabic, and I could kind of make out what they were saying based on context. Sometimes when I asked a question about part of their culture they said it was hard to explain it in English, so they always went to Google. All in all it was a good dinner. Ahmad also chose to share with me something that is truly stressing him out, and I am glad that he feels that he could talk to me. Although I couldn't really help him, I was there to listen and offer support.
By the way, the food and service was amazing!
