Today Samir and I got into an interesting discussion about politics. We did not argue, but we compared the governments of our two nations. I explained to him how the electoral college worked, which he understood really well to my surprise. Most people who did not grow up in the United States have a lot of trouble understanding how the American election system works. We also talked about Lebanon, which I discovered is one of Samir's most favorite things to talk about. Samir talked about the corruption in Lebanon and how many of the politicians keep tax payer money for themselves. He is saddened by the fact that Lebanon has a lot of potential that can't be fulfilled because of the political parties in his country.
