Today my tutee and I focused on articles. I remembered his
presentation and most of our conversations in general. My tutee has struggled with article use. He has asked be questions in the past but to
be honest, I was not sure how to answer his questions. So I did some research and learned the
different scenarios when articles are used and gathered notes to share with him
today. Similar to the lesson on
prepositions, I provided three basic rules to remember and example sentences
and phrases of each article in use. We
brainstormed other phrases and sentences to make sure he comprehended the
rules. I enjoyed this particular lesson because articles are something that
native English speakers overlook. We
never have to think of the reason why we use a, an, or the because to us it is
something so miniscule. Talking with my
tutee, I realize how confusing it can actually be. When I was putting the lesson together I,
myself, was having a difficult time understanding the specifics of each
articles use. However, by teaching him,
it helped me learn a rule I otherwise would not have known.
