Today I had my last Skype tutoring session with Dojun. It is the last one for the class, but I believe we will continue to work together past the class sessions. We talked about politics, as he told me about some of the things going on in South Korea right now. I believe he likes our discussion style tutoring sessions. Since he always got to share information as well, it was not all teacher (tutor?) centered. I believe overall this made him very comfortable, and I enjoyed it as well since I got to learn so much about South Korea. He always wanted to practice speaking with me, so to make it more planned, I would try to have some points that I would lead the discussion towards, and have some high level words that I would slyly introduce. One thing he still has trouble with is pronunciation, as he says "alaidy" instead of "already" and "senaytor" instead of "senator". These things I correct by saying "ohhh do you mean ____". He corrects himself and we move on. I believe he has benefitted a lot from our tutoring sessions. He does not have to spend a great deal of time thinking about what he wants to say anymore, which used to be a big problem. It would definitely have burdened conversations in real life.
For this session I showed him a video that we then talked about. It was the SNL skit about the third debate. He said it was a little fast, but he understood the gist of it and found it very funny.
