Diego TS#13

28 September

This day was very stressful! I had 3 exams and two homework assignments but Lina and I had a lot of fun talking about vocabulary from her work. We ran through a lot of new words and again I pulled my cellphone to give her a proper definition alongside what my definition was for it too.

One thing I really like about Lina is she asks for every single word just how frequently it's used. And there are instances where I told her "No we just don't use that word but..." and I'd tell her specifically when that word is used in one or two scenarios. I explained to her that, being G3 and G4, she's going to run into a lot of low frequency words but not to be discouraged.

She did admit that, although she likes learning new vocabulary words, she feels like all she does is memorize them, take the test, and then forget them. I told her the same thing happened to me in Spanish and especially in French. I told her what I would do is write the words on an index card and try to use them at least once in conversation that day as fluidly as possible. I would repeat this process for a couple of days until it sticks.

We covered 11 words but with adding synonyms or antonyms for those words we covered about 25-27 total.

It was a very productive session.
