Today Mohammad and I reviewed complex and compound sentences again. I printed off a few worksheets and was better able to explain the difference between complex, compound, and simple sentences. Mohammad understood everything really well and demonstrated his ability to use the different sentences in writing. It was really exciting. We did get a little distracted in the middle of the session when we started talking about Mohammad's favorite places to travel. I did not mind it too much because it was good practice for speaking and listening and I got to know him a little better. I always wonder how easy it is to make friends in a new country so I try to be as flexible as I can when students want to talk.
