Milcia TS #15

For this session I prepared to go over the difference between gerunds and infinitives. I began by asking Hamed if he could give me the definition or an example of a gerund. He gave me the word “walking” as an example and gave me a few examples of when it would be used. Then I asked him to give me an example of an infinitive. He told me that an infinitive was a verb in its normal form. With this I asked him to give me an example and to identify what each had in common so that he could recognize the pattern all infinitives have. We went over a few example sentences in a cloze exercise together and then I let him complete the rest. I made sure to emphasize how only gerunds can follow prepositions but both gerunds and infinitives can follow a verb.
