I honestly can't believe that TEFL has already come to an
end. Soongyu and I had our last session today, but I have invited her to chat
with me anytime she wants. I wanted to make sure that she was able to review different
pronunciations as much as possible. I had her work with "pet" and “bet"
first and as she succeeded in pronouncing the differences, I added in "vet.”
Then we worked with “face” and “vase.” For our final exercise, we practiced the
differences between the words “lap” and “rap.”
Soongyu wrote on a piece of paper, “I learned to a new word,”
and asked me how I would say that sentence correctly. I explained how “to” was
unneeded in her sentence, and that “I learned a new word” is perfect as it is.
In addition, we went over the differences between the words “tell,”
“speak,” and “say.” Although this was difficult, we came up with our own
example sentences to help us practice the ways that they are commonly used. This
led us to go over how in the present tense, we must add “s” to verbs when using
“he,” “she,” and “it.”
Ultimately, I think this review was helpful for her, and I
look forward to the next time we meet.
