Lauren TS#4

Today my tutee and I focused on the new set of high frequency words he would be tested on Friday. The words we focused on were they, said, of, have and for.  Again, some of these words were ones that my tutee struggled to include when repeating sentences a couple of weeks ago.  We started the session by listening to and watching a video for each of the high frequency words.  After each video was over we looked at the word that just played and reviewed it.  We created sentences using those words.  I’ve noticed that my tutee does not speak much.  He sometimes tends to interrupt the lesson to ask about things that happen throughout the day.  Typically, he will ask these questions in Spanish.  I translate his question in English and encourage him to repeat after me.  I only provide an answer after this has happened and while I answer his question in Spanish, I repeat it in English.  I have thought about simply answering in English but my tutee does not comprehend unless the set of words are phrases we use every day in the classroom such as sit down, line up, write your name, etc.
