Topic/Skill: Pronunciation (Short Passages Practice), Review
Feedback provided to tutee: I encouraged her to keep practicing and congratulated her on her progress! She is further re-inforcing the vocabulary we built over the past couple of weeks when they appear in the short passages she reads. She is noticing patterns in language too and I am so proud!
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: I noticed Georgette has problems with pronouncing certain words and sounds so I focused the lesson improving her skills in those areas. In particular she has trouble with the "i" sound and the word "her". She can pronounce the word "her" correctly and then the next time it appears she will mispronounce it again. She is a quick learner and even though she never seems to be annoyed at my corrections I always try to make her laugh or over-celebrate her successes. After this lesson, I noticed that she was having repeated trouble with words that end in "y" and words that begin with "a". I'm going to focus the next lesson on these so as to keep building her skills.
