Date/Time: September 20th 7-8pm
Location: Georgette’s home
Topic/Skill: Review of Old Vocab, Action Verbs
Feedback provided to tutee: I am trying to get Georgette to think and search her brain for the answer rather than guessing a couple times and looking for the answer in my facial cues. I try to correct her mistakes by demonstrating the incorrect word/verb she uses so that she knows the difference. I am trying to let her know that her brain already has the answers from her practice she just needs to think for a little longer.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: I had a big fun lesson! When I arrived to the house there were no parents home. I was a little shocked but I realized that they trust their kids and no one was acting up so there was no problem by my standards. I had already planned on teaching Georgette action verbs but it turned out to be a perfect lesson to teach all the kids. Once I began the motions to describe each verb such as "to jump", "to walk", and "to dance", the other children became interested. By the end of the hour everyone in the house was playing a form of Simon Says where I would call out a verb and the children would respond accordingly. It gave me a rush of pride to know that I could get all the children interested even though it was just Georgette who was required to listen to me.
