Jamie TS#9

Date/Time: Wednesday, September 28th
Location: Tutee's Home, Pensacola Street
Topic/Skill: Handwriting, alphabetizing, sight words

This week Tiba and I worked with flash cards some more, playing matching games with the sight words and alphabetizing/matching capital and lowercase letter cards. She got a little mixed up with M's and W's, which is understandable, but also with S's and X's, which seems to be a phonetic issue. We ran through the cards some more with me giving her the sounds and her repeating, which seemed to help. We also worked on her handwriting with some alphabet worksheets and simple word worksheets. She has an issue with writing p that seems to stem from not quite knowing where to put the curved part (or being corrected in the past and now being wary of making a mistake once more), so it ends up in the middle, somewhere between a p and b. We worked on that for a bit, just to make sure she knew the difference between the sounds they make and what they look like. Her letter recognition is improving, which should in turn help her with reading later on.
