Ben TS #5
I
met with Yongbae, my adult tutee, for the second time on Monday. We talked a little bit about Korean cuisine
culture. He told me about kimchi and
ramen from a Korean’s perspective. I told him of my experience with 3 minute
microwave ramen and he told me about the authentic Korean version. After that, we went over his class work for a
little bit from the prior week. We are going to focus on speaking and listening
throughout our tutoring sessions because those are the areas he is weak in and
also motivated to improve upon the most. At the end of the lesson he told me he
would like feedback on his speaking, for both grammar and pronunciation. I am
glad he told me because I was reluctant to give him feedback unsolicited. I
told him I will work on giving feedback in future lessons. I think it would
also be helpful to send him some links online for how to pronounce certain
syllables in the English language geared towards Asian speakers.
