Jamie TS#16

Date/Time: Wednesday, October 19th, 6:30pm.
Location: Tutee's home, West Pensacola St.
Topic/Skill: Likes/Dislikes (activities), vocabulary of the house, review of previous vocabulary

For our final meeting Tiba and I covered more vocabulary, which she seems very adept at recalling. We went over what it means to like or dislike a certain activity, and degrees of liking or disliking something. I asked her to fill in a T chart (likes and dislikes) based on a sample list of vocabulary accompanied by pictures. First we ran through all of the activities to make sure she understood, then she made her chart. Afterward, I'd made a worksheet with some sample sentences covering how much she liked or disliked something. We then worked from the same list, creating very simple sentences such as "I really like music" or "I really dislike chores." Tiba always had school at the top of her likes list, and seems to truly enjoy learning. If anything, I'd say there weren't enough options on our vocabulary list for her to truly express dislike, since she doesn't find the typical kid hassles (school, homework) displeasing. Before we wrapped up, we went through some of the vocabulary that we'd covered in the past on household words and names of face/body parts. She remembered quite a bit, but I think it was helpful to review certain words that tend to slip from her memory.
