Megan TS#13
Since David and I did not end up fully going through and completing the packet he needed to for school that Friday, we met again the day after our usual lesson. David seemed more motivated to finish his work, as he wanted to complete the writing assignments first. However, he began to lose confidence as we began working with the first question. To avoid this occurring any further I suggested that we begin with the multiple choice questions to refresh his memory of the material. After the second question, it seemed as though he needed to go over the scientific vocabulary again. Although he expressed to me that he had already read the chapters I insisted that it was necessary that we go back in the book and look for our answers. I began by flipping through the pages myself to find the section in which he could read aloud the definition and surrounding context of the unknown scientific terms. Although this gesture seems minuscule it was through this guided modeling of study skills, he began to take more initiative searching for the answer himself. From then on, he had a much easier time completing the remainder of the packet. He took the same approach with the writing questions, and after a brief discussion with me to gather his thoughts, he would take his time in formulating his answers as he wrote. At times, if the sentence was a tad incoherent I would step in to help guide him towards better expressions of his ideas. However, his mistakes were near to none. Ultimately, I am very proud of him for getting through his work so efficiently without distractions.
