Toylene TS#5
This little guy and I have our routine down. We review previous sight-words and add new ones to his stack of flash cards. He will definitely have all 190 words committed to memory, in isolation, by the end of the school year. The key however, is being able to recognize them in text. During our sessions, we talk about animal facts because this is an interest of his. The salamander was the animal of discussion this session. I was telling him how the salamander uses its detached, wiggling tail as a decoy for its escape, if caught in the jaw's of its predator. However, I said it has the ability to regenerate its tail, leg, eye, etc.. When asked if he new what regenerate means, he answers with this big circling gesture that it "re-grows over and over and over." Such a bright little guy.
