Danielle TS#3

On Friday, September 9, I met with Maritza again to help her with her composition and writing techniques.  We reviewed some sentences she wrote in class but didn't get a chance to ask her professor.  We mostly focused on sentence variety and how to write different kinds of sentences, as that was something she said she has been struggling with and would like to improve further on. A few of her sentences she wrote dealt with Mexican culture, and I took this opportunity to ask her more the various celebrations that occur in Mexico and become a little more insightful on her culture. It was a very nice conversation and I learned a lot. This was also a good opportunity for her to work on her speaking and listening skills, as she had told me at our last session that she struggles somewhat in those areas, as well. We got on the topic of Halloween and I told her about Halloween Horror Nights at Universal, which she seemed very interested in as she hasn't heard of it before. It was a good tutoring session overall, especially because we had the chance to educate each other a little bit on our native cultures.
