Toylene CP#3
9/21/16

This session required considerable thoughtfulness and creativity on my part. My CP had a sheet of paper with categorical words and phrases to use in writing.  She is seriously committed to learning English.  She asked for help understanding the various words and phrases pertaining to cause/effect and comparing/contrasting.  Although, she was able to understand some of my examples; give some of her own, many of them where difficult for her to grasp.  Honestly, I had trouble thinking of examples for some of them. Many of them weren't words or phrases I used regularly in speech,or in writing. We did have some laughable moments when the subject of my examples always had the person Jack in it. She jokingly asked me if my husband knew who Jack was. When I would lose my place on her list, I would say, "where am I?"  She asked what I meant by this.  I said, it's just another way to acknowledge being lost or losing your place.  One of my examples involved using her beloved twin nephews to compare/contrast. This sparked a long conversation about her being a little partial for one twin over the over.  He was the smallest of the two.  However, she does love them both equally. We ended our session with her introducing me to her dear husband.
