Today I met my conversation partner
for the first time. Her name is Mei Xue and she is originally from China. We
met up at the Union and started to get to know eachother and eachother’s likes
and dislikes and background. She was originally a translator and studied
English literature. After moving to the United States, she started towards a
degree in Business. We talked about how different our hometowns were from
Tallahassee and how we both enjoyed the “quiet” from it compared to the noise
we grew up in. We also spoke about our travels and the foods we’ve eaten and
enjoyed. She’s been to Spain, which I have also been to, and we talked about
how nice the people were there and the amazing foods (i.e. paella and tapas).
After talking about food for so long, we decided that the next time we hang
out, we should go eat. She said she had never had Cuban food so we plan to go
to Gordo’s. She also mentioned she had never been to the Korean BBQ in town, so
we will plan to go there someday, too. Overall, we had very pleasant conversation
and I thoroughly enjoyed her company. I hope we will continue to have good
outings. Next week, we plan to go bowling with a group!
