Today, Tuesday September 13th, I did my classroom observation with Professor Leslie Wagner's Listening class. Today was a lab day where she had to students working on their partner presentations. Each student was partnered with someone, whether it was from another student in Professor Wilson's class or from their own class. The objective was stated at the beginning of the class; create a powerpoint slide based on the information that your partner gave you. There was one student who did not have a partner so i volunteered to be his partner for the day. His name was Rasheed, if i remember correctly. He was struggling with the wording of the outline that was given to him, mostly particular words, but with some rewording, i was able to get him fully engaged and understanding the material. By the end of the class, i had him voluntarily presenting the information to me as though it were the powerpoint slide. I think he will do well, just with a little more self study of words and some support i can see him rapidly developing his skills.
The class layout reminded my of my time being taught how to make powerpoint presentations. Keep it to a few key phrases. The usage of photos is highly encouraged and the usage of a note page was suggested as a helpful too.
