Today I had my tutoring session with Dojun over Skype. It was good. He told me all about the recent holiday there, which he called the South Korean Thanksgiving Holiday. He said how they always give workers off the day of the holiday as well as the day before and after. Further, they usually have Saturday and Sunday off, so he said they always hope that the holiday will be on a Tuesday or a Thursday. I told him that I have some interest in coming to South Korea to teach english, so he went on to tell me more about the country. Things we talked about include different foods and what is popular, and what is cheap and what isn't. We also talked about what younger people do there, he said tea/coffee shops are very popular among the youth. We talked about birthdays, because mine is coming up. He said that they like to drink excessively on their birthdays. He said they have a First, Second and Third, and I explained to him what a Beer Drawl is because it sounded very similar. It was an interesting talk overall. He still has trouble trying to think of all the words he wants to use, so it takes him some time explaining long things. I like that he is really practicing his english though. It should come more easily with more practice.
