I met with my adult tutee, Dojun, today. As I said previously, I believe he knows all the grammar rules and all, but just needs to practice speaking, so we spoke as if conversation partners. We talked about new movies, he told me that there is a new movie in South Korea that will be the first zombie movie there. I said that that must be a big deal, and he said that it was. He also talked about a colleague that just quit to go run a small family business. This brought up topics like whether or not he liked his job and was envious of his colleague being able to quit, and about the villages in South Korea. He said he is a city person and that he does not think he would be able to make it in the village because things are harder. I was able to relate, because I have been to the villages in Bangladesh before. This time I could see that he often needed time to gather his words, now that we are no longer talking about beginners topics and greetings.
