Date/time: Friday, 9/9, 7pm
Location: Starbucks on Tennessee
I met with Fahad again today. I can tell he really has a hard time with english because he tries to translate entire sentences, but translators don'd often do that correctly, so sometimes I can't understand even the english translation. We talked about Eid, a muslim holiday, which is actually tomorrow. It is one of the biggest muslim holidays. We also talked about bowling. He went for the first time with a friend and loved it, so next week when we meet we will meet at the bowling alley on campus. I will invite other friends so he is really submersed in the language, and make sure he is included in conversation. He also said that he went to Checkers for the first time and loved the chicken sandwiches. I didn't understand what he was saying at first because he kept saying "chickers". It was just the accent, but I really could not understand. It makes me understand the importance of accents. I was always one to ignore those in Spanish studies. He ended up googling checkers to show me what he meant. He wants to start trying to meet twice a week. I think he is frustrated with his lack of speaking skills, so I don't mind, but I do get very busy.
