Today I meet
with Aeyil in the CIES break lounge for our conversation session. Our first
topic was about children’s birthday parties. Over the weekend Aeyil took her
some to a classmate’s birthday party for the first time. Aeyil was surprised how
much was done for a preschooler’s birthday party. The parents set up a boat
trip at the springs near by where the kids could also swim. In Korea birthdays
parties are usually small and with family when the children are younger. We
also talked about Aeyil’s plans to travel to Disney World this weekend. She was
very excited because she hasn’t been since she was thirteen years old. She was
also a little worried that her son might not have fun because Disney doesn’t have
a lot to offer boys. I told her that Star War is really popular at Disney and
all the little boys really seem to like the attractions they have for it.
