On
Monday the 29th I met with my child tutee for the first time. His name is
Matthew, he as a twin who is Megan's tutee. His mother asked me to go over his
homework with him which consisted of word problems in math, science vocabulary
words dealing with the scientific method, and learning the fifty states. This
first session we worked for an hour and a half, I was surprised that Matthew
was motivated the whole time. A few of the concepts in math and science I had
to refresh myself with, nothing a quick google couldn't fix. When explaining
certain words to Matthew or explaining how to work through a problem I tried to
lead him on with questions. A moment that made me very happy and proud was when
a woman who had been sitting behind us paused before she left to tell us that
he was very smart and that I was very good at "this".
