For my first class observation I observed Ryan Flemings
grammar class. He introduced me to the class only for a moment so I wouldn’t
distract the students. He began by giving out a worksheet where the students
were presented with his daily schedule then asked to construct sentences of
their own based on their daily schedules. I noticed that he made all the
students that began working on the assignment while he was giving instructions
stop and pay attention, which was something I found nice because I thought that
was a good way to make sure he doesn’t need to spend too much time
re-explaining the worksheet. He walked around and corrected the student’s
beautiful mistakes during this worksheets completion. I also liked how in a situation
where the students have a mixed group of speaking backgrounds he made the
students pair up with a different native language. He kept a good speaking
rate, tone, and made the classes objectives clear. I also noticed he did a
small amount of acting out the words he was speaking which isn’t as necessary
for that class level but I still liked it.
