Mr. Wilson

Mr. Wilson began by informing the class of today's agenda.  He regularly introduced new vocabulary words to the students for their vocabulary log.  Today's "word of the day" was posthumous.  This was definitely not a high frequency word.  It was interesting to hear the students ask if the word is used often or if this word is similar to post-mortem.  Before defining and using the word, he questioned the students for background knowledge on Heath Ledger, the actor who played Batman.  When the students acknowledged their familiarity with this actor, Mr. Wilson used the word in a sentence. (HL posthumously received an award for his role in Batman.)  I didn't get to see reading being taught due to class presentations. This was partly because of the storm and the Labor Day holiday that classes are slightly off schedule.  However, at the close of the hour, he did read some from the class reader and one question came to mind.  Why is he reading the text and not the students? Hmmm. Is he reading to model tone?
